Good afternoon everyone! I am going to do a little something different this afternoon for our chatty post, give you a little insight into where the “magic” happens. I realize while I have shared what our home library looked like and where I like to read or drink tea, I’ve never really shared where or how I get my work done. I know that this may not be the most interesting post I’ve done and that it is borderline not related, but I figured, why not share?
I find that my office is typically a pretty good extension of me (outside from all of the little kid toys dotted around the floor from my son) and I like to surround myself with a level of calmness and quiet that you would actually find in The Cosy Book Shoppe or our library. This won’t be a full look at my office as that is a large space that I share with both my husband and our son, but rather a little look at The Cosy Book Shoppe space on my desk and a little information on how I get my work done. I don’t entirely see it as work because I really love doing this and I find it to be a lot of fun (even the mundane things)!
When I sit down to work I always make sure that I have everything that I need prior to actually sitting down. This is similar to my Reading Routine (which you can find HERE). Typically most of my writing for blogs or products happens on Sunday Afternoons while my little man sleeps. I do devote about a half hour to hour of everyday to brainstorming, jotting ideas down, working on different aspects of the business itself, or administrative things that need to be done. There are always things that need to be done and ideas that I am brainstorming throughout the week. The bigger notebook that you see next to my laptop is my notebook for all things The Cosy Book Shoppe. Sitting on top of that is my planner and pen case. I like to look at the current week as well as the next week when I am writing to see how posts will fall and when products are being listed.
I also love the little corner that I have on my wall that is all about the different “visions” of The Cosy Book Shoppe. There are a few pictures of products, weather and different things that I feel like fall into the category of what I feel is The Cosy Book Shoppe. It is not quite a dream board, more of a “mood” board. While I write, brainstorm or dream up ideas it is nice to have the board to glance at while sifting through everything. Since I don’t actually have a physical shoppe to work in (one day though!), it is nice to have a little piece of it at my desk while I am working.
This is not the only place I work by any means. I will work from our little library (although that is in the process of moving) or from our back deck if the weather is nice.
I hope that you enjoyed this little peak into “Where the ‘magic’ happens”!
