A Cosy Kitchen – Snickerdoodles
We are going from a super easy recipe, to a slightly more difficult one! Snickerdoodles have been a long time favorite of mine because I love cinnamon. I’ve always wanted to make them, but just haven’t ever had the chance. A few months ago I just decided instead of doing some typical just chocolate cookies, that I would try a Snickerdoodle recipe- I loved it! It also really made our house smell delicious, so that was an added bonus. This recipe is from Better Homes and Gardens. It will take a good couple of hours total time so be sure you have the time set aside to allow the dough to sit in the refrigerator for an hour.
1/2 cup butter softened
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1teaspoon ground cinnamon
1.) In a medium mixing bowl beat butter at medium to high speed for about 30 seconds.
2.)Add: 1 cup sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Beat until combined.
3.) Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
4.) Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer going, then stir in any remaining flour.
5.) Cover and chill dough about 1 hour.
6.)Preheat oven to 375
7.) Combine the 2 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon.
8.) Roll dough into individual 1 inch balls and coat in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
9.) Place rolled balls on an engrossed cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
10.) Bake cookies in oven for 10 minutes or until edges are golden. I would keep an eye on the cookies starting from about 7 minutes on as they will go from be crumble perfect to burnt very quickly.
11.) Place baked cookies on cookie rack to cool.
These cookies go really well with some of the more Fall Blends of Tea that I’ll be stocking this month or with our Signature Blend. Have you tried this recipe out? Do you like Snickerdoodles?
