Hey everyone!! I have just recently gotten a rather large amount of product from Yankee Candle (one of my all time favorite candle places) and I figured I would share what I got with you! My Aunt-in-Law got notified of a massive sale at one of the stores, so she very kindly took our list and payment and picked up what we wanted! One of my necessities with reading and the Cosy Book Shoppe is atmosphere and a candle goes a huge way into that atmosphere. I know that candle scents can be very specific to each person and vary widely from store to store, but I personally have found that I really like the “homey” “woodsy” type of scents and NOT food or standard candle scents (like fresh cotton or clean laundry etc). These are my typical go-to scents and they always make our home smell fantastic. This time, I branched out a little and got a couple of food scents, so I hope I love them when they burn just as much as when I smelled them! I’ll link to the scent page for each of the candles if you would like to check them out!
Berry Trifle:This is a new candle territory for me. As I stated earlier, I am not a food scent person…at all. I typically find them very over scented and overwhelming (outside of Kitchen Spice, which when bought in smaller forms is a really really good smell). All that aside, when I received my catalogue and “scratched and sniffed” I knew that I had to try this candle. It’s smells like fresh raspberries and strawberries (a big must have in our house) mixed with something else, maybe cream? All I can say is, this candle smelled amazing to me and I am super excited to try it!
Christmas Eve: Where do I even begin? This candle is Christmas in a Jar (in my opinion). It has the berry scent, along with the tree, spice, and cookie scent all wrapped into one candle. I look forward to burning this candle as soon as Thanksgiving is over while I am decorating for Christmas (after we arrive in our new location of course).
Dream by the Fire: This is a new to me scent (not sure if it is a new to Yankee Candle or not) and it is a seasonal candle for Yankee Candle. I really like the smell of a wood fire/fireplace (and it is something that we are desperate to find in our next home) and while this scent has those elements, it also has a hint of something else. I’m excited to start burning this candle and especially love the snowflake detail that follows around the jar! It will be perfect for those long winter days 🙂
Home Sweet Home: This is my all time favorite and go-to scent. I always have at least one, if not two, of the large jar candles stored to burn and typically have another form of the scent on hand as well (typically a wax tart melt). To me, this smell smells like home. It has hints of spice and fresh baking, but also a “home” touch to it. I don’t feel like it is an overwhelmingly spice scent, but rather an all around smell that is sure to bring a wonderful note to any room.
Gingerbread Maple: So my aversion to food scents is not just food scents, but especially any holiday food scents. Yep, I very rarely get any “Pumpkin Scented” anything and I typically stay away from maple and gingerbread scents too. Anything that is food scented that is also holiday themed is typically a “no, never going to happen” scent. I have lately been going more towards the Gingerbread scents (uh tried the Gingerbread Tea Latte at Starbucks yesterday, pretty good!) and so I figured I would give this candle a try. It smells amazing, almost entirely gingerbread scent with just a hint of the maple.
I also got a few candle accessories, because we are going into the winter season and I wanted to get more festive when we get our new home! Can you tell I’m big into decorating and creating “atmosphere” hahaha! Fall and winter are my favorite seasons and I love being able to create a welcoming site with just a few decorations (not to mention all of our fall stuff has been packed and shipped already for the move). All but one of these can also be displayed year round if we’d like to, which we actually may do because they fit with some of our home decorations.
“Holiday Tartan Holiday Stag”: I love this little votive candle holder. We are outdoorsy people and hunters, so this fits right into our home perfectly! I typically burn votive candles in our kitchen as the scent will not overpower any baking or cooking smell that we’ve got. This will fit perfectly there during the season and we will definitely find a year round place for it in our home!
“Seasonal Cheer Happy Holidays”:So this wax warmer. I was eyeing something similar last year, but didn’t actually purchase it. When I saw this warmer in the catalogue and my Aunt In Law was giving us the information for the sale, I figured that with the discount it was going to be one of my winter decor purchases for this year! I love that it has a Christmas feel to is, but isn’t specifically Christmas. It can be used all through winter. The lamp post also lights up (battery operated) which makes it even sweeter. I am a huge lamp post and lantern person, so this decoration is perfect for me!
“Seasonal Cheer Elegant Fox”: This was a complete impulse decision. We are expecting our first little one this next month and the them for his nursery and for a lot of things is foxes and woodland animals and while this will not be going into his nursery, I felt that it was too adorable and fit too well with these changes to pass up! I am not a huge electric wax warmer person, I use them typically in guest quarters in our home, but this was just so cute! I’m not sure where it will go in our home just yet, but I am going to be getting a lot of use out of this warmer!
That’s all I’ve got for this haul, although I think it is plenty enough! We are set in our home for a little while, I just need to get our bathroom candles for our master bathroom, although I’ll be waiting till we actually get our home to do that. This sale was just too good to pass up! I hope that you enjoyed this haul and be sure to look at for a book review to be coming soon!
