Good morning! I realize that there wasn’t a Sunday Afternoon Chat post up this past Sunday, so I’m just going to briefly touch base before I get into todays book posting. It is officially my favorite time of year! I consider the beginning of Autumn as September 1 and Autumn is what I dream of every year 🙂 It is my season and I’m looking forward to all the cozy times that will be had coming up! There will be a couple of announcements coming, but I’ll touch on those in a separate post. Overall though, life is good! 🙂
Today, I am going to be doing a book review of In a Dark Dark Wood by Ruth Ware. As always, you can view a complete summary HERE. This one is going to be a short one as I don’t have too much to say on this read.
I am a fan of the thriller/mystery reads and when I read a blurb on the back (from a different author), I knew that I had to pick it up. All I saw was “Who brings a gun to a Bachelorette party?” and that was a good enough reason to pick up this book. True enough, it did not disappoint. The story really wraps the reader up into this story and takes them on a ride. Some of the twists were a little obvious, but that didn’t upset the flow of the story. I enjoyed watching the characters blunder through and the story unravel.
Our main character provides a nice point of view for the story to flow through. I did enjoy watching her try to figure out what is going on and what happened during that fateful weekend. The reader doesn’t really know a lot about her, but rather finds out bits and pieces as the story unfolds. I also really enjoyed seeing the supporting characters and how they interacted throughout the story.
Overall, I did enjoy this read, but I don’t know that I would recommend this book to everyone. It definitely wasn’t a complete mystery/thriller, but it was still a good quick read. I did hear something about this book becoming a movie and I think that it will translate very well to the big screen!
