Hello everyone! I am on a roll here, with another book review! I have been getting a lot of reading done lately and have been loving, once again, sharing my thoughts with you on all of the books I have been reading! Today I am going to be reviewing Susanna Kearsley’s Season of Storms.
You can read a summary about this book HERE.
First off, the cover of this book is very nice and well done and it was one of the things that really brought me into the book. That and it was one of the recommended reads if you loved Outlander. I will start by saying that I would not recommend this book only based on the fact that someone loved Outlander. I don’t think that this book holds the same caliber as Outlander and I don’t necessarily think that that connection needs to be made. The only thing that they really have in common is the romance. While Season of Storms does hold some of the historical fiction, it is not on the same level as Outlander and I think that trying to make that connection was actually detrimental to Season of Storms.
With that being said, I actually did really enjoy this book. I found it to be a somewhat easy read, but very engaging and well written. I like that it combined a romance with a mystery and a hint of the historical fiction. The main character was a smidgen flat in terms of depth, but the story really helped her character along and hid that fact. I did see how the romance would play out in the very beginning of the story (which is fairly typical of romance), but there were a couple twists along the way that were nice to have.
I would say that I want to try another Susanna Kearsley book as I like how she melds several different genre’s into one book seamlessly and the stories that she writes are engaging, but easy to read. It’s easy to fall into this story and very enjoyable. Have you read any of her books? Which ones would you recommend that I read?
