Good afternoon everyone! Today I am going to be doing a book review. This book…no this trilogy is a paradox for me. By all right I shouldn’t like it. The storyline is fairly typical to an extent. It has Twilight vibes in how the story unfolds (by this I mean with the main characters relationship storyline). Up until the end of this book (the second in the trilogy) I knew exactly how the story was going and where it could end up. So why did I keep reading? I think I kept reading because I really loved the main character, Diana. She loves reading, history, Europe and tea. What more could I ask for in a main character? I think that I really just found a lot in common with her and I wanted to watch her story, especially in this book as she travels back to Elizabethan England and Europe. Yes, please!!
I very much enjoyed this read. The storyline was at times very obvious and I knew where the storyline was going before it got there, but it was fun to read Diana go through and adapt to the new time that she found herself in. We watched both of our characters grow into themselves and who they are. I continue to love Diana’s character. She is a strong grown woman who can handle situations herself and can take care of herself. The wonderful thing about her (that is also something I believe in) is that even though she can handle herself, she chooses to work with her husband and they approach situations together as a pair. This takes a little while for Matthew to get on board with, but Diana understands that they can only work together and be a pair and a true married couple if they go through life and problems together. Honestly though, that fact is not entirely related to this book or the story, so side rant over 🙂
I just see a lot of myself in Diana. The love of history, learning, and continuously trying to learn more about herself and her own history. I can relate to her in ways that I can’t with a lot of characters. I love watching her find herself and who she is throughout these books and this book I think is a top in the trilogy. I’m going to be ordering the third one shortly and look forward to seeing how the story will end!
