Hello everyone! I hope that everything is going well for you! Today I am coming to you with a short and quick book review. I’ve had this book on my shelf for a little while and decided to give it a chance.
You can get a complete description HERE.
I surprisingly really enjoyed this read! I was a little nervous going into this book as I liked Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy, but it wasn’t my favorite and I haven’t read farther than the first book. I really enjoyed the world, but was wary about going back into the world and the fantasy. I was so wrong to be wary. This book was ten times better than the series and I was very glad that I ended outpacing a chance and reading it.
The characters in this book are all different and all have a different history of life. Some come from a hard knocks background, others are privileged and I think that the characters backstory added a level to the story. Each story is slowly revealed to the reader and the other characters don’t already know about how each one came into the gang that they are a part of. The characters are learning facts about each other at the same time that the reader is and I feel that it really helped the story.
Another thing that I really enjoyed about this story is the world itself. In this book, unlike The Grisha Trilogy, Grisha are part of the story and world, but not necessarily the main story/world. I enjoyed watching the story of the gangs and underworld unfold as I read through the book.
Overall, I would recommend this book and I am very much looking forward to reading the second book when it comes out later this month! I am glad that I waited a little bit longer because now I don’t have to wait too long before the conclusion!
