Good afternoon! I hope your week is going well! Today I am coming at you again with a book review for a very special conclusion to a trilogy. This book and trilogy have a very special place in my heart and only shelf now. I don’t know that I have really ever related to a character as much as this since Harry Potter! I am reviewing The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness, conclusion to the All Souls Trilogy.
I have loved this trilogy from start to finish and I actually just ordered a second copy of the first book for my downstairs area, but will share more on that later. Like I stated before, I have never related to a character so much as I have to Diana. To me, once I made that connection, any qualms I may have had with certain little aspects of the story made no difference. I had finally found a female character that I totally fell in sync with. Every bit of the way with the decisions she made and her mannerisms went right along with me and mine. The reader gets to see Diana come full circle with herself and her life.
Reading this book was like riding a roller coaster 50 times in a row and LOVING every minute of it. The story twisted and turned and the reader goes up and down right along with it. Overall, as a conclusion to a trilogy, it wrapped up very nicely while still leaving the reader wanting more. We are left in a very nice place with the characters, story , and as a reader the end feels full circle and whole. Although, for me, I just want more and could continue to live in this story! I really wanted to make the story last, but once I started I had to continue which meant pulling some very late nights reading.
Overall, I love this trilogy and cannot say enough about it! One finished, I immediately went to Deborah Harkness website to see if she had anything in the works, and she does!! She is writing another book set during the Tudor era and will be following along the same All Souls world and Matthew Clairmont. It is set to come out in 2017. I was already super excited about this news (cannot contain the excitement), but WAIT there’s more…there is also the potential of a TV Show in the works!!!! Guys, I can’t…I can’t even begin to explain how ecstatic and excited this made me! This trilogy definitely goes into my all time favorites list, along with the greats of Harry Potter and Outlander, so I definitely recommend you pick it up!
Have you read this trilogy or any of the books within it? If so, what are your thoughts?
