Good morning everyone and Happy Friday Eve! I hope that your week has been going well! This morning I am doing a book review on a recent cute little book I read. It is a feel good novel and I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you!
Today’s book review is on The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan. To start, you can read a full description of the book HERE.
I absolutely loved this novel. It is exactly what I needed when I read it and is exactly as I stated; a quick and easy feel good novel. It is a breeze to read (I think I read it in a day or two) and once finished you are quite content with the time you spent reading. It is a perfect Sunday Afternoon read!
The first thing that drew me into this book was the cover. This is exactly how I picture a window from The Cosy Book Shoppe to look. It immediately struck my interest and once I read the short description, I knew that I had to get it.
I love the main characters viewpoint and her overthinking the major life decision that she is making. I was in the exact same place as her when I decided to go out on a limb with The Cosy Book Shoppe so I felt like I was able to relate to Nina. She wants to continue doing what she loves without being in the confines of a changing system. She creates a new life for herself and a fresh start for her life. As a side note, I am totally envious of the new life she created!
The icing on the cake for this book is the setting. It starts off in England, but quickly moves on to the Highlands of Scotland. Yes, please! I typically love anything that is set in either location, so this setting was perfection. I think it also added to the life changing decision and the storyline in general.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to just about everyone! Even if this isn’t really a book you would normally pick up, or a genre that you reach for, the book is so worth it! I absolutely loved every page from start to finish.
